The Duke of Sesame Street

Once when we were watching "Elmo Potty Time" (an American classic), they were discussing all of the different names people have for bowel movements.

At one point in the video, a little boy looks straight in the camera and says, "We call it Dookie!" (or is it dooky?  Mark and I didn't quite know and it can't be found in dictionary.com - oddly enough)

For some reason, this "dookie" comment struck me as ridiculously funny.  It seems quite odd to have added it into the video.  I'm surprised they didn't have a little girl who stands there and says, "in my house, we call it shat".

The other day, I was sharing this story with my sister and cousin and who should be eavesdropping, but Eli the Great Repeater.  He saw how much we were laughing at the "dookie" word and of course latched on.  He began with, "It smells like dookie in here!" [giggles] then "Hi, dookie-head!"[roaring laughter].  I'm so glad we could add another colorful word to his vocabulary.  My Stern-Mother act loses its steam when I can't seem to stop laughing at the offender.

After he declares, "This picture looks like dookie!" at school, perhaps I can explain to his teacher that he got it from a Sesame Street video, and that any complaints she might have should be submitted in writing to PBS.

Once again, I'm absolving myself of responsibility...

This blog is total dookie.

  3. I have actually watched this video a few times thing Gracie would think it was super cool to go on the big potty the whole section where kids are yelling the word poop, dookie, poop-poops, #2, pee, & #1 I thought this thing is going to do more harm then good. I had a terrible image of being out to eat and gracie just screaming terible poop words.
